SENATOR PACHECO RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR
GLOBAL WARMING SOLUTIONS ACT
Boston
,
MA
—State Senator Marc R. Pacheco
(D-Taunton) has received national recognition from organizations such as the
Democratic Leadership Council and The Climate Project for his efforts to pass
the Global Warming Solutions Act in
Massachusetts
.
This week, Senator Pacheco was featured as the Democratic Leadership
Council’s “New Dem of The Week” for the Global Warming Solutions Act, the
nation’s most progressive piece of legislation addressing the issue of global
warming and climate change.
Senator Pacheco’s efforts also gained recognition from The Climate
Project, a national non-profit organization spearheaded by Al Gore to increase
awareness about global warming and climate change. The organization’s homepage
states that the Global Warming Solutions Act, sponsored by Senator Pacheco,
“is one of the most aggressive anti-climate change initiatives ever passed by
a state legislature.”
“I am honored to have been recognized for the Global Warming Solutions
Act and for the efforts we have taken here in
Massachusetts
to address this critical issue,” said Senator Pacheco, chairman of the Senate
Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change. “The Legislature’s approval
of the Global Warming Solutions Act was an historic moment that will
revolutionize the Commonwealth’s future economy by spurring job growth,
sparking innovation, and protecting our environment for future generations.
I’m extremely pleased that we were able to take swift action now. The cost of
inaction was just too great.”
