SENATOR PACHECO AWARDED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP

—State Senator Marc R. Pacheco
(D-Taunton) was awarded the honor of Outstanding Achievement by the Sierra Club
in recognition of his leadership on climate change, energy and environmental
issues during the 2007-2008 legislative session. The award was presented to
Senator Pacheco on
Saturday, September 13, 2008
during the Sierra Club’s “Energy Solutions Day” event in the Boston
Commons. Founded in 1892, the Sierra Club is one of the most renowned
environmental organizations in the nation.
“Securing sound and effective environmental policies was
a core objective of the 2007-2008 legislative session,” said Senator Pacheco,
chairman of the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change.
“Passage of bills such as The Global Warming Solutions Act, which I sponsored,
The Oceans Act, and The Green Communities Act, will help make
Massachusetts
a national and international leader in the green economy. I am proud to have
sponsored and supported environmentally sound legislation and proud to have been
recognized by the Sierra Club for my efforts.”
