Initial projects annnounced under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Highway resurfacing in the district among the first eight

BOSTON – Senator Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton) is pleased to announce that a highway project in Bridgewater and Middleborough is among the first eight highway projects to be funded in Massachusetts under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“It is very exciting to see that the process has begun, and stimulus money is starting to flow,” Pacheco said. “This is a ‘shovel-ready’ project that will translate immediately into jobs for the region, which is suffering with very high unemployment rates.”

The project involves the resurfacing of Route 18 and Route 28 from Bridgewater Center to Middleborough Rotary.

According to the governor’s announcement, the first eight projects represent critical road resurfacing and traffic sign replacements. The eight projects will be advertised for bid tomorrow. The initial projects span from the Berkshires to Cape Cod and represent an estimated total value of approximately $30 million.
