Pacheco named to National Conference of State Legislatures committee

 Senator Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton) is pleased to announced that the president of the senate has appointed him to represent Massachusetts on the Agriculture and Energy Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures for the 2009-2010 session.

 The NCSL represents state’s interest at the federal level. The committees are responsible for developing NCSL policy positions that form the basis of NCSL’s lobbying efforts in Washington D.C.

 “As a member of the agriculture and energy committee, I will have an opportunity to speak up for Massachusetts on some of the most pressing issues of the day, including matters concerning alternative energy and biotechnology,” Pacheco said.

 Standing Committees allow legislators and staff to benefit from the experiences of other states in shaping public policy, and learning about policy innovations in state legislatures.
